At MHSC Energy, we believe lighting design is about more than illumination—it’s about creating spaces that are functional, efficient, and welcoming. Our recent project at Camping World McGeorge’s demonstrates how advanced LED technology, thoughtful layout design, and precise photometric analysis can transform a large commercial facility into a bright, energy-conscious environment.
This comprehensive installation combined high-bay fixtures, panel lights, vapor-tight solutions, and specialty luminaires to meet the diverse needs of showrooms, offices, storage areas, and service shops. The result is an interior that supports both employees and customers with clear, uniform, and efficient lighting.
Project Overview
Camping World McGeorge’s required a tailored lighting solution to address its wide range of spaces: from commercial showrooms and detail shops to service bays, storage areas, offices, and customer vestibules. Each area had unique lighting requirements, demanding fixtures that could deliver the right balance of brightness, efficiency, and durability.
MHSC Energy’s team selected a combination of fixtures designed to optimize performance for each specific zone, ensuring consistent coverage while maximizing energy savings.
Luminaire Details
The project integrated five distinct fixture types:
LHB5-130W50K High-Bay Fixtures
Lumens: 18,096
Quantity: 67
Total Wattage: 9,024.23
Purpose: Delivering bright, uniform light in large open areas.
LHB5-175W50K High-Bay Fixtures
Lumens: 25,113
Quantity: 80
Total Wattage: 13,968
Purpose: Extra output for areas requiring higher light levels, such as service shops.
PLB2-2X4-UW3CCT Panel Lights
Lumens: 6,145
Quantity: 207
Total Wattage: 10,130.58
Purpose: Efficient illumination for offices, customer spaces, and general commercial areas.
VT4 Vapor Tight Fixtures (50W)
Lumens: 7,726
Quantity: 10
Total Wattage: 489
Purpose: Durable, sealed lighting for moisture-prone areas like washrooms or utility spaces.
D810-90-10-S (40W 350)
Lumens: 3,147
Quantity: 2
Total Wattage: 74.82
Purpose: Specialty lighting for smaller, focused zones.
Together, this system delivers over 2.5 million lumens of light output, ensuring every part of the facility is well-lit and energy-efficient.
Lighting Performance Results
Through photometric analysis, MHSC Energy verified that the system provided strong, consistent results across all areas:
Commercial Areas: 90.27 fc and 87.51 fc (≈ 971 lux and 942 lux)
Detail Shop: 91.24 fc (≈ 983 lux)
Electrical & Washroom: 52.72 fc (≈ 567 lux)
Offices: 70.95 fc and 81.74 fc (≈ 763 lux and 880 lux)
Service Shops: 104.75 fc and 95.97 fc (≈ 1,127 lux and 1,033 lux)
Storage Areas: 71.19 fc and 87.94 fc (≈ 766 lux and 946 lux)
Vestibule: 14.30 fc (≈ 154 lux)
These results ensure that every area—from high-activity service bays to quieter office zones—has the optimal level of illumination for its intended use.
Layout & Design Specifications
To achieve such uniformity, MHSC Energy carefully calculated fixture placement using the following parameters:
Wall Heights: 23 ft, 17 ft, 9.5 ft, 16.3 ft, and 19 ft depending on space.
Mounting Heights: 9–17.5 ft.
Workplane Height: 2.5 ft (typical user activity zone).
Room Reflectance Values:
Ceiling: 0.80
Walls: 0.50
Floor: 0.20
These reflectance values ensured even light distribution while reducing glare and shadows—critical for both staff efficiency and customer comfort.
Why Proper Lighting Matters in Commercial Facilities
Lighting impacts far more than aesthetics—it directly influences safety, performance, and customer experience. At Camping World McGeorge’s, the benefits include:
Improved Employee Productivity: Bright, uniform lighting makes tasks easier and reduces fatigue.
Enhanced Customer Experience: Showrooms and offices feel more welcoming under consistent, natural lighting.
Safety in Service Areas: High output ensures mechanics and technicians have the visibility needed to work precisely.
Energy Efficiency: Advanced LED fixtures consume less power while delivering higher output than legacy systems.
Reduced Maintenance: Long-lasting LEDs minimize downtime and replacement costs.
Long-Term Value
This installation is designed for durability and efficiency. With LLF values at 1.000 across most fixtures, brightness levels will remain consistent over time. The use of energy-efficient LEDs reduces monthly utility bills and supports sustainability initiatives, all while maintaining performance.
The MHSC Energy Advantage
What sets MHSC Energy apart is our commitment to precision and planning. Every project begins with a detailed photometric analysis, simulating both foot-candle (fc) and lux levels before installation begins. This guarantees measurable results and helps clients make confident decisions.
For the Camping World McGeorge’s project, this meant:
Choosing fixture types that align with each space’s specific needs.
Designing layouts to eliminate dark zones and minimize glare.
Confirming lighting performance with detailed calculations.
Delivering a system that is efficient, durable, and cost-effective.
Conclusion
The Camping World McGeorge’s interior lighting project is a clear example of how MHSC Energy delivers tailored solutions that meet the needs of complex commercial spaces. By combining advanced fixtures with thoughtful design, we created an environment that supports productivity, safety, and customer satisfaction while also reducing energy costs.
At MHSC Energy, we’re committed to lighting solutions that go beyond illumination—they make spaces brighter, safer, and smarter for years to come.
